Three "Secret" Steps to a Successful Business

business marketing sales Jan 11, 2024

You’ve made the BIG decision to start pursuing your passion, you’ve started a business. Have you grappled with the same question that every entrepreneur asks themselves? “Where do I start??” I remember asking myself this question quite well. The only solution I had at that time was to google, “how to start a business”. There were millions of free references, tools and lists that showed me step-by-step the information that I asked for. I fumbled through many of those steps, feeling like I wasn’t getting anywhere, because honestly I wasn’t.

I vividly remember a business coach I had at the time continuously saying, “what is the business”? At that point, all I had was a good idea.

For fun and a reminder of the struggles involved in starting a new business, I googled those words again tonight and pulled information off entrepreneursbreak.com. The list is quite helpful, I must admit. Here’s the gist of what they would guide you to do.

(Read on to learn the three secrets. Though this list is good, it's overwhelming)

15 Steps to Starting a Successful Business

In my business ventures, I finally decided to rip that list in half. There had to be an easier way to get from the starting point to serving clients effectively. If you’re feeling this way about your business and the progress or lack thereof, you’ll want to rip your list in half too. Whichever one you’re working off currently, that is. Stop formulating your business plan, creating your motto and mission statements. Start instead, with these three critical questions that will lead you to the three pillars of success in your business. The rest of those steps can be brought in when you have proof of concept.

Drumroll……

The three secrets to success in business are…

1. What is the problem?

2. How are you uniquely qualified to solve that problem?

3. Where do the people who have this problem hang out?

These three questions tell you everything you need to know to begin to see success grow in your budding business.

You may not see it… yet. But..

When you figure out what the problem is, you’ll discover what the business is.

When you figure out how you are uniquely qualified to solve this problem, you’ll be prepared to sell your product or services. You’ll be able to speak into the dreaded, “what do you do”, question. You’ll be able to confidently tell your potential clients what you do to solve the problem that they have.

Lastly, you’ll be able to market to and serve your potential clients in the place where they are already spending time. This will give you an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and understand your ideal client in their element, despite their problem existing.
